Lieve Declercq earned her MSc in Industrial Engineering and Management from K.U. Leuven. Before her time at SPIE, she spent ten years at ExxonMobil, followed by 12.5 years at Van Gansewinkel Groep as General Manager of Maltha Glasrecycling and five years as Chair of the Board at Vitens, a drinking water company. She currently serves as a board member at Ramboll and Aalberts, is part of the boards of Techniek Nederland and the Fund for Dutch National Opera and Ballet, and sits on the supervisory board of the Foundation for Natural Leadership. Additionally, she is a fellow of the Netherlands Academy for Engineering and an Advisor in Belgium’s Economic Diplomacy. Lieve is married and has three adult children with her husband.
