Buitenring Parkstad Limburg van boven

An accessible region The ring road Buitenring Parkstad Limburg has a clear goal: better accessibility of and within the Limburg region of Parkstad. The Buitenring is a ring road around the urban region of Parkstad Limburg to which the municipalities of Brunssum, Heerlen, Kerkrade, Landgraaf and Beekdaelen belong. The Buitenring provides a smooth connection between municipalities in the region and a good connection with national and international roads. Existing roads through residential areas are relieved of traffic. This is good for the quality of life. In addition, the new road offers plenty of opportunities for economic and tourist developments and improves traffic safety in the area.

The construction of the Buitenring Parkstad Limburg in facts and figures
  • Strukton Civiel has been working with Boskalis on the Buitenring since 2011
  • Total length 26 km
  • 14 kilometres adapting existing roads
  • 12 kilometres of newly built roads
  • 2 lanes with 2 lanes each, no emergency lanes
  • 39 bridges, viaducts, tunnels
  • 25 noise barriers (noise barrier/screens)
  • 3 large and 32 small fauna tunnels
  • 1 ecoduct (animal crossing point) near Brunssummerheide
  • New connection to the A76 near Nuth

The motorway consists of two lanes of two lanes each. The maximum speed is 100 km per hour, with the exception of the sections near the Brunssummerheide nature reserve and the Geleenbeek valley. Here the maximum speed is 80 km per hour. Together with the construction of the Buitenring, the provincial roads N298 and N299 have also been improved. This has resulted in a finely meshed road network, with a high-quality connection around the region and a good connection to the main roads within Parkstad, such as the Binnenring Parkstad. In this way, residential areas, businesses and tourist attractions in the region are better accessible.

The new road offers plenty of opportunities for economic and tourist developments
