Maxima Medisch Centrum Veldhoven - nieuw OK-complex

Patient and staff well-being key from design to delivery The new operating theatre complex for MMC Veldhoven comprises three storeys and covers 8,000 m2. On the ground floor, there is the outpatients' centre for children and adults and space for preoperative admissions. The operating theatres are on the first floor. The second floor is the epicentre for technology. Plenty of daylight, an efficient routing (one way) system through the complex and natural use of colour ensure that patients feel comfortable in the building. It is also a great place to work for staff. Good preparation and cooperation meant that the project was delivered earlier than planned.

The most important is that the patient gets the best quality in terms of care and stay

Maxima Medisch Centrum Veldhoven - nieuw OK-complex

In the new operating theatre complex, we ensure the best care in a healthy building. With daylight in de rooms and focus on the well-being of patients and staff. Provided with the latest equipment and air conditioning, built using the latest insights and technology. BIM formed the basis.

Integrated approach leads to healthy building
In 2012, we became the strategic partner of the MMC. So we know how we can make optimal use of each other's knowledge and experience. For this new build project, we worked with a UAV-GC (Uniform Administrative Conditions for Integrated Contracts) contract in a light form. That creates more flexibility during the process. This meant we could add a hybrid operating theatre to the new building.
Following a risk analysis, the MMC decided on a new build project rather than renovating the existing complex. As a result, we were able to complete the new complex faster, with less inconvenience for patients and staff. Which is important for continuity of the care. All the disciplines working in the operating theatre complex were involved in the preparation.
Building with BIM in 3D
The new operating complex was built using the latest insights and technology. BIM formed the basis. This programme provides the visualisation, coordination and integration of all the processes relating to the expansion and new build of the operating theatres. Thus all stakeholders, people working in the operating theatres and the outpatients' clinic, doctors and other parties concerned were included virtually in the planned end result. The internal clients are all very enthusiastic. Talking to the client council and showing them round also produced positive reactions and compliments.
