Hendrik Everts, service technician
16 March 2021
Service technician Hendrik Everts likes the variety that comes with his work. On one occasion, he resolves a malfunction in, for example, a cooling installation or air treatment system in a large factory. The other time he is at a sports club to carry out maintenance on a central heating boiler. He therefore calls his application at Strukton Worksphere a bull's eye.
Lots of variety in the work
“I really go everywhere and the work is very varied. I am often busy solving malfunctions or performing maintenance on large building-related installations at companies, factories, schools and care institutions. I also do smaller jobs such as repairing a barrier, replacing lighting or work on radiators, water pipes or solar collectors. The combination of working with technology and meaning something to others makes my job incredibly valuable. A good example of this is my work for the COVID house in Heerenveen. Of course there is sometimes a malfunction for which they need a technician. I carried out various activities there together with a colleague. That was quite exciting in the beginning. You don't just step in there. We received extensive instruction and special protective suits. Although it is quite hot and tiring to work on with all this equipment, it went very well. We have been there a number of times now and it feels good to be able to help others in that way. ”
Solving a malfunction in a corona department was exciting the first time. This went very well together with an experienced colleague.
“It is nice to work somewhere where you know that everything is well organized. This applies not only to working safely in a contaminated environment, but also to all other assignments. I have access to good tools, my own bus and work clothes. There are also regular toolbox meetings. During these meetings we are updated on current topics in the field of safety and technology. Moreover, I get a lot of freedom to organize my work myself. For example, I make my own planning in consultation with the customer team and I purchase the necessary materials from the wholesaler myself. That freedom is nice. "
Working with the latest techniques
“In my field we are increasingly dealing with intelligent technologies. Think of smart buildings, home automation and climate technology. Measurement and control technology plays an important role in this. I find this interesting. That is why I wanted to follow a course in measurement and control technology. I got that opportunity at Strukton. In any case, my team leader encourages me to continue to develop and improve myself. With this training I gain insight into the operation of complex control institutions, which means that I will soon be even more versatile. For example when solving complex malfunctions or adjusting industrial installations. After my training, I can also guide and train colleagues in this area. Something I really enjoy doing. ”
