The electricity grid is growing in importance. On the one hand there is an increasing supply from sustainable sources such as windmills and solar panels. This supply is also increasingly localised, from local energy cooperatives. Meanwhile demand is rising from the growth of electric transport, homes being made gas-free, and the large number of data centres. Smart grids and microgrids ensure a better match between supply and demand, with the energy grid being used more efficiently. Strukton Civiel has the knowledge and experience to aid the realisation of the energy transition with innovative technologies. For instance by constructing and maintaining energy networks.
Grid manager TenneT is expanding the capacity of the electricity grid significantly, with new 380-kV high-voltage connections. Huge foundation constructions are needed to support the Wintrack pylons. Strukton Civiel/Mobilis and Terracon/Voorbij Funderingstechniek are working closely in tandem to realise these structures on plots of land in Zeeland and Groningen.
Strukton Civiel helps to accelerate the energy transition with our knowledge and experience.
Over the next ten years TenneT will replace more than a hundred 110/150-kV substations that are coming to the end of their service lives. TenneT is implementing the renewal in phases. Strukton is working with the grid manager to tackle the challenge of preparing the substations for the future. But replacing and upgrading such a large number can only happen if we innovate.
A data centre in a high-security building ensures that the servers with digital applications always keep running. This demands professionalism from the partners involved, who must engage practically and be able to respond quickly to unexpected situations in this complex environment.
