Sustainable data on the rise
Patrick van Geffen, program manager at Strukton Worksphere, about Strukton PULSE: platform for data-driven service.
‘How do I go from label G to label C? What will it cost me and how long will it take for me to recoup that investment?’
From energy label G to C
Another good thing is the partnership with e-nolis. This spin-out invented the Energy Navigator. This includes the Energy benchmark, which clearly highlights the difference between a building's energy label in the design and the energy label of that same building in practice. This can sometimes deviate significantly: as many as 65 percent of buildings use more energy than indicated by the energy label, e-nolis discovered. Important to know, because from 2023, buildings larger than 100 m2 must have at least energy label C. The Energy Navigator, which we plan to integrate in Strukton PULSE, not only provides insight into the difference between design and reality, but it also shows potential savings with an accompanying business case. In other words: how do I go from label G to label C? What will it cost me and how long will it take for me to recoup that investment? If it concerns sustainable building management and cost savings, that's obviously very valuable information.
Press of a button
The e-nolis Energy Navigator includes another useful tool which we will integrate in Strukton PULSE: the Energy Analysis module. Based on the building data we've collected via Strukton PULSE, with a press of a button this module can show where we can save more energy and what that will cost. We can obviously perform a similar energy scan at Strukton Worksphere too - and we frequently do so - but that's not an automated process like this. A module like this is incredibly useful, for both us and the client. You get the savings options and associated business case on a plate.

A different type of novelty is Ahrend's Comfort Workstation. You can literally turn 'on' this desk. Every user can adjust the biodynamic lighting, heat, cooling and workstation height as they want. The workstation heats up, so cold hands are a thing of the past. Because it also heats up the immediate surroundings, it's very comfortable for the user, without requiring a central heating installation. That central heating installation obviously heats up other areas, but corridors can be a few degrees cooler, for example. We integrate the data from the Comfort Workstation in Strukton PULSE, so that we have optimal insight into occupancy, temperature around a desk and energy consumption. That's saving energy and time without compromising on comfort. In short, sustainable data is on the rise all over the building.
