In use 24 hours per day, 7 days per week Due to the influence of market forces and regulations, the Dutch healthcare landscape is undergoing many changes. At the Haaglanden Medical Centre (HMC), this is resulting in projects that are specifically focused on further professionalising healthcare and making it sustainable. For Strukton Worksphere, one of the preferred suppliers for architectural and technical installation work at HMC, this means flexibly and proactively working along in an environment that is in use 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Patients are often very vulnerable. This requires careful planning, preparation and methods of work, often down to the room level.

In hospitals, the new construction or replacement of specialised areas and technical installations often happens while the provision of healthcare continues. The fact that most patients are highly vulnerable makes this even more complex. This requires careful planning, preparation and methods of work.

Delivery that complies with the most severe climate and hygiene criteria
Up until the end of 2019, the focal point of projects was the HMC Westeinde location. Here we realised various facilities for the high-care environment. For example, a neuroangio room was constructed, the first of its kind constructed this way and compliant with the highest class of operating rooms. In addition, we constructed an acute room for trauma patients brought to the Centre. This room contains all of the facilities required for stabilising these patients, including equipment for heart scanning and blood-staunching.
We also created a bucky room for full-body x-ray photography, as well as a resuscitation room for newborn infants. Severe criteria concerning the quality and controllability of the interior climate and hygiene apply in many of these high-care rooms. We were also responsible for the construction, or the demolition and reconstruction, of treatment and isolation rooms, and the renovation of the intensive care facility.
Fixed on-site team for all projects In spite of the challenging working environment and the tight deadlines, Strukton Worksphere managed to deliver all projects on time, with due consideration for the validation deadlines for all rooms and technical installations. This was in part due to the fact that we worked with a fixed on-site team with knowledge of the healthcare market segment and the associated requirements and rules concerning work performed in a healthcare environment. We will once again bring in this experienced team at other HMC locations for subsequent projects.
