At Essent's head office in Den Bosch, the operation of the building installations is monitored with the Strukton PULSE management platform. The information generated is used to improve comfort and energy consumption and manage maintenance and replacement issues.

The head office of energy supplier Essent in Den Bosch consists of two parts: the former PNEM building dating from 1950 and the later extension, which was completed in 2006. 2,200 people work here on 25,000 square metres of shop floor. The challenge here is not only to improve comfort, but also to reduce CO2 emissions and save on energy consumption.

Right solution
Strukton Worksphere introduced the right solution at the right moment: the Strukton PULSE platform monitors the performance and energy consumption of building installations and turns the collected data into management information. This enables Essent to achieve the improvement goals, without overly high costs.

Technology and skill
Strukton PULSE revealed that one of the air handling units was not achieving the desired supply air temperature, while the post heater was controlled for 100 percent. This obviously affects comfort in the building. When such information is available, corrections can be made fast, resulting in comfort improvement and energy savings. Technology and skill are thus a perfect marriage.

Predictive maintenance
An added advantage is that management and maintenance become predictive based on data. Monitoring the installations over a longer period reveals where there is potential for improvement and the costs involved. Based on the data, we then know exactly what the result of these improvements will be. Predictive maintenance thus offers transparency and advantages to the owner of the building and its users.
