What is your route to energy-neutrality?
Sustainability is no longer a voluntary option: it's essential. So high time for a concrete plan.
'I have to do something. But what exactly?' The energy transition is causing a headache for many organisations. Energy consultant Mark Welle talks about how we can help.
Businesses, organisations and municipalities have a lot to contend with. Laws and regulations, a changing playing field, rising energy prices, rapidly developing technology. Sustainability is no longer a voluntary option: it's essential. So high time for a concrete plan. Preferably a plan that's green for the planet and for the purse.
Perhaps you've got one or more sustainability reports in your desk drawer already. The urgency is recognised, there are a vision and ambitions. But not much is happening.
the big question is: where do we start?’
Recording vision and ambitions
To achieve suitable solutions for these issues, we start by discussing vision and ambitions with you. What exactly do you want? For example, do you want to become ‘energy-neutral'? Circular? Or even ‘climate-neutral'? The latter is more ambitious than energy-neutral, because it's about the footprint of the whole organisation, so also about the fleet and the food used. It must therefore be clear in advance what we are going to focus on and what that means.
Acquiring knowledge and insight
What's the organisation's situation now in terms of energy? Analysing this is a logical step to making concrete plans. Do the buildings already have an energy label? Is there an energy efficiency plan (EEP)? This must include an overview of the options and possible measures to improve sustainability, including the estimated payback periods.
Collecting building data and converting it into usable insights is essential for running a building sustainably. Measuring is knowledge, particularly in the field of energy consumption. Our advice is to choose a system as early as possible that facilitates data-driven energy management, like Strukton PULSE. You will then know from the start the energy consumption of the property, as well as the results generated by the measures taken.
Setting out the route
Many roads lead to Rome. For every organisation, a different road is possible or desirable. Together with you, we translate the ambitions into concrete technical solutions and scenarios. We understand that you don't immediately have a fund of money to make everything sustainable in one go. So together we develop a smart process that will earn money from the start so that you can make bigger investments later. We also provide insight into the possibilities for subsidies or funding.
Reduction and replacement
It's handy to plan two lines: for reduction and for replacement. You can start the first immediately: finetune the current installations and minimise consumption. There are always lots of options for this. Replacing big installations is another story and that requires careful planning. At the end of the lifespan, for example, or during a radical renovation.
Based on our expertise and experience, we discuss the best balance between demands and opportunities, costs and yields. We then like to support you in maintaining, adjusting and guaranteeing the quality that we deliver. So that you can stay on course to achieve your ambitions. Clever. Today we design tomorrow's world together.
